Q: Who Can Play?
A: This program is open to Boys and Girls, 5 years of age to 14 (as of final registration date).

Q: How are Individual Players Placed on Teams?
The spring season of NFL Flag is designed to keep schoolmates playing together. Our goal is for each elementary and middle school to have their own "grade level" flag football teams.

Q: How are Teams formed?

A: Teams are formed using the following criteria:

1. Buddy Request (We try to accommodate all requests however, refunds are not provided due to an unfulfilled request)
2. School affiliation
3. Current Grade/Age

Q: How many players are on a team?
A: Most teams have a minimum of 5 players with a maximum of 10 players.  However, we do reserve the right to stretch these guidelines if the league deems necessary.  If there are more than 10 players registered in the same grade/age division at the same school, those players will be divided into multiple “School” teams and then the remaining spots could be filled with players from other schools.

Q: What if my child and his/her classmates do not have enough players to form a team?

A: No worries! We will always try to keep classmates together but if needed we will combine players from other schools to form your team for the season.

Q: Do You Accept Team Registrations?

A: No, we use the procedure above to form teams.  This ensures parity within the league and prevents stacking.  Our buddy request philosophy is just that, a buddy request. This does not mean a coach can request 10 players. It is used for children to request to be placed on a team with one or two friends.

Q: How many teams can one school have?

A: It depends.  We will not turn any players away.  As many teams that can be formed from each school by grade/age division will be accepted. Everyone who wants to play is welcome.

Q: What do I get for my Registration Fee?

A: An eight-game season including practices, use of fields, officials, NFL reversible team jersey, flag belt and flags, interactive website, organized administration, and a lot of FUN for you and your child!

Q: What is Training Camp and does my child have to attend?
A:  Attending Training camp is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.  Since this is a recreational league, we will have children at various skill levels.  Training camp introduces the boys and girls to the basics of NFL Flag and focuses on physical conditioning.  Training camp is Monday – Friday & Sat. OR Sunday for a two-week period: April 8 – 18.

Q: When are practices/games?

A: When the season starts, practice and games are on the SAME DAY.  Depending on your Volunteer Coaches schedule, practices typically run from 6:00 pm – 6:50 pm followed by a game.  Boys and girls will have a practice/game ONLY two days per week, either Mon./Wed OR Tues./Thurs.  If a practice/game is cancelled due to inclement weather, we reserve the right to reschedule on Saturday or Sunday.

Games typically start by 7 pm.  Games are played on a 40-minute continuous clock with two 20-minute halves unless one team gains a 28-point advantage, which will then end the game. Clock stops only for timeouts OR injuries.

Check out the NFL Flag Rulebook and other resources on the NFL Flags website.

Q: Does the league supply uniforms?
A: Every Flag Football player in our program receives an NFL reversible team jersey and a flag belt to keep with your registration.

Q: How do I care for the kid's flag football uniform?

A: Machine wash cold with like colors on gentle cycle

Do not bleach, but use non-chlorinated detergent

Do not tumble dry

Do not iron or dry clean

Q: Do all flag football players need mouth pieces?
It is mandatory that all players wear a mouth piece on the field.

Q: How much playing time can my child expect?

A: All our programs promote participation, fun, and fundamentals. Coaches are required to fairly allocate playing time equally among all players on the team. We will do our best to assure all players receive equal playing time.

Q: Are there playoffs?
Of course!  While the winning team at each grade level will take a trophy back to their school along with other cool prizes, the goal of this co-ed recreational league is to teach the fundamentals of flag football.

Q: What types of awards are given?
Each player will receive an individual participation certificate.  Each grade level winning SCHOOL will receive a trophy, CASH AWARD and prizes specifically earmarked to encourage its students to increase physical activity and prevent childhood obesity.  Tucker Football League (TFL) is a member of Georgia Shape.

Q: What is Georgia Shape and the Atlanta Falcons RISE UP 159?

A:  In August 2017, the Atlanta Falcons launched Rise Up! 159, a new statewide flag football initiative, with school partners in every one of Georgia’s 159 counties. The Atlanta Falcons then partnered with Georgia Shape.  Georgia Shape is the Governor’s statewide, multi-agency and multi-dimensional initiative that brings together governmental, philanthropic, academic and business communities to address childhood (0-18) obesity in Georgia.
